SERVICES
Tree Pruning
Trees are a vital enhancement to family homes, parks and community. They not only increase the worth of our residences, they also improve the quality of our lives. Healthy trees provide cooling in the summer, clean air of toxins and provide aesthetics to our properties and community.
Much like our children, trees must be nurtured and cared for in a healthy growing environment. Health and longevity is greatly enhanced by pruning. Proper care of young trees eliminates problems that may occur in the later years and greatly saves on cost that arise due to neglect. Pruning trees when they are young and growing quickly, is critical to ensure a strong framework for future growth. Occasional pruning prevents damage caused by severe weather including Canadian winters. Pruning dead or damaged branches can prevent harm to people and surrounding buildings. Trees should be regularly thinned for sunlight and airflow. Sucker growth should be removed to allow healthy and strong development.
Tree Removal
As arborists, we believe it is our mandate to promote the care and health of trees. If, however, damage, disease, age or unfortunate location require the tree to be removed it is always advisable to contact a professional skilled in this potentially dangerous procedure.
Overhead power lines and adjacent buildings can enhance the risk of the removal. We are trained and experienced to ensure the tree is removed safely and with minimal impact to surrounding vegetation. We are also well experienced it the recognition of and the handling of wood affected by, insects such as the Emerald Ash Borer. Our worksites are always thoroughly groomed following completion and all wood products are used or recycled in an environmentally friendly manner.
Winter Services
While the trees may sleep in the winter months, we do not. Winter is an excellent time to complete removals, elevating, and trimming back limbs and sections away from roofs, structures and neighbouring properties.
Frozen ground helps eliminate damage to lawns and dormant gardens are undisturbed. Prices for these services are reduced in the winter months and wait times are shorter. All excellent reasons to book now and have your tree work completed before the Spring begins.
Tree Fertilization
In a residential setting, where leaf litter and decomposing organic matter is constantly removed to better benefit, turf and landscape, the ground can become robbed of essential nutrients. Liquid fertilizer, injected underneath the turf, all but eliminates the competition between the trees’ root system, and the sod, delivering it directly to the roots. A tree that is not lacking in nutrients, is healthier, stronger and better equipped to deal with environmental stressors, insects and diseases. For the greatest benefit to the tree or woody shrubs, it is recommended to fertilize at least once a year, either in the spring or fall. Never in the heat of the summer.
Stump Grinding
When a tree has been removed, the stump remains. Left to natural devices, it may take many years to break down. In the meantime, the stump may be an inconvenience, unsightly, or even a hazard. The stump can be removed safely, efficiently, and cost effectively by using a specialized piece of equipment called a stump grinder. This machine utilizes a fast rotating wheel with carbide teeth to break the offending stump up into small chips, which can then be removed. Typically, stumps are ground 12 to 18 inches below the surface, effectively removing the stump while doing minimal damage to the lawns, gardens, and surrounding landscapes.
Tree Cabling and Bracing
Trees can form weak crotch unions, such as inclusive bark or become compromised due to wounds, both natural or man-made. Extra support may be necessary for prevention, preservation, or protection of the branch unions. There are multiple options available, depending upon the severity and circumstances. Cabling can be completed with either rigid cable, high strength steel, or a more malleable system like Cobra cable. All have distinct benefits when it comes to application and installation. Bracing can be installed with the use of one or multiple threaded rods inserted through a split stem. Another form of bracing. is supporting a broken or compromised limbs and sections with a post concreted in the ground with an anti-abrasive pad, protecting the trees tissue. These systems can be used individually or in combination to help prolong the health, structure, and life of your tree.
